| Hi, I am Anna Meadows Helvie: B.A., Reiki Master/Teacher, and Certified Integrative Reflexologist. I welcome you to my website and my business, "SOLE TO SPIRIT." I have had a tremendous amount of success relieving pain, increasing energy, and improving my own health with these natural, holistic methods. IT is very gratifying to be able to share these techniques with you, and help YOU journey toward a life filled with vibrant well-being. Why the Starfish? The starfish has a rare and wonderful ability: it can regenerate itself. If a starfish loses an arm, or even several arms and part of its central disk, it can build new ones ... it takes a bit of time but eventually the starfish is as good as new. We humans can't quite grow new arms or legs, but with optimism, courage and the right kind of care, anybody can undergo remarkable healing. I have experienced this -- and you can, too. My Own "Starfish" Story -- Why I Practice These Healing Arts By 1993, I had graduated from Duke University and was working as a corporate trainer in the "hot" field of medical computing. This fun but stressful life, with its constant travel to hospital clients in Europe and North America, had left me outwardly successful but physically worn out & anxious. I tried to relax-- but my body literally wouldn't let me. Even a trip to the paradisical islands of Kuaui and Hawaii didn't help: unbelievably, I remember feeling tense and anxious swimming a warm sea pool by moonlight. But fortunately, my job landed me in the Bay Area of California, where many complementary healing techniques were being practiced. On the advice of a friend, I attended a "Body-Mind-Spirit Fair." It was there I had my first mini-session of Reflexology, followed by a few minutes of Reiki. I wasn't sure exactly what these things were or how they would help -- I just knew they felt good! What a surprise! When I woke up the next morning, I felt like a new woman: tranquil, yet energized. I didn't hurt anywhere, and I was happy and eager to start my day. It had been so long since I felt so good, I had forgotten what "good" felt like! The beneficial effects of that little fifteen-minute mini-session of Reflexology and Reiki continued for three whole days. Needless to say, I went back for more during my time in San Jose -- and when I moved back to North Carolina, the opportunity to learn these techniques and share them with others manifested in my life. What These Techniques Can Offer You Working with these techniques has brought me to a place of health and balance in my life that I did not believe was possible. I look around and see so many people with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and -- most of all -- an excess of toxic stress, and I know they can benefit from Reflexology, Reiki, and the other techniques I practice. These techniques do not replace conventional medical care. I bless the doctors, nurses, pharmacologists that help us so much every day. But in my experience, and that of my clients, Reflexology and Reiki gives us other tools besides yet another pill to help out with these ills of modern life; they complement standard medical care, and help our body heal itself. I have been a Reiki Master since 2000, and a certified Integrative Reflexologist since 2007. Over the past eight years, I have also received certification in other forms of complementary healing that help balance the body's own energies, leading to its ability to help heal itself. I teach Reiki and energy medicine at Carteret Community College's Therapeutic Massage program. My specific experience in each field is listed at the bottom of the page that pertains to that topic. I am fully committed to helping you achieve your health and wellness goals. I invite you to explore these techniques via this website and my writings, and to contact me by email or phone at any time!
